Expressions of interest for this new ICGP course are now invited. It is hoped that this course, approved by the JCFP, will offer individual training in all aspects of LARC to interested doctors in their own practice in the Autumn.
Interested doctors should hold the Family Planning and ideally be in established practice where they can recruit their own patients and follow them up. Doctors will be required to complete the practical aspects of training after attendance at a theory course (half-day).
Log books and clinical updates will form part of a re-accreditation process for the future.
The ICGP would welcome applications from GPs who already insert LARCs but who would like an update and to be certified accordingly.
Priorities for this pilot course will be given to applicants in Leinster and the Cork area.
